When a company/producer makes a connection/works with another company/producer or a different part of the same company to make a product that benefits all involved.
Companies that are both vertically and horizontally integrated can create synergy across their output.
E.g. Warner Bros with Lego for The Lego Movies.
This means they can promote their output in an efficient and profitabe manner, whilst at the same time creating a recognisable brand.
Both the BBC Earth website and BBC iPlayer are interactive, allowing fans to watch trailers and learn more about the BBC Earth franchise. Full episodes are available via link to BBC iPlayer.
A range of merchandise is available to buy from the BBC Earth store, via their website.

One example of horizontal integration contributing to the process of synergy is BBC and John Lewis coming together to help the environment. They have partnered to create reusable bags made from plastic bottles to boost PR which will benefit both companies and their company images. Therefore horizontal integration can contribute to synergy through the process of companies coming together to create a product that both companies can benefit from.
