Jan 2017 Q1:
Use Fig.1 in the insert and your own knowledge to answer the following questions.
A)
Explain what the term 'readership' means.
Readership is the amount people and demographic of people reading newspapers and forms of print.

B)
Analysing the data about 'the sun' and 'the daily mail' newspapers, describe two differences in terms of their target audience.
The Daily mail has more readers in the ABC1 catagory with 2304000 per six days. Whereas the Sun's most viewership comes from the social grade C2DE catagories at 3010000 per six days. Another difference would be that, in total for adults, the Sun has a higher total viewership of their print with 4664000 per six days, whereas in total the daily mail has total viewership of 3605000 per six days.

C)
From your knowledge of demographics, describe and justify the type of content that might feature in four newspapers of your choice from the data provided.
The Sun:
The Sun's content is very gossip based and as a tabloid gives more controversial news to their readership. This is because their target audience is that of a lower social grade (C2DE) where readers may not be as interested in more 'flat and facts' news.
The Independant:
The Independant's content is very much fact based as a broadsheet gives more political and straight line facts to their readership. This is because their target audience is that of a higher social grade (ABC1) where readers are mroe interested in factual news and political affairs.
The Guardian:
The Guardian's content is also broadsheet based, targeted towards a higher social grade (ABC1) where viewers are more interested in real news and culture e.g. travel. This means their content is for people who have more disposable income to spend on the things they may be interested in.
Metro:
The Metro's content is positioned in both a broadsheet and tabloid structure, mixing both of them for both their advantages, e.g lots of pictures but also text heavy. This means their demograph of their readership is balanced between all social grades (ABC1 and C2DE).
